How to Complete Your Assignment
You will be working in small groups to complete this assignment. Each group member will have a specific job within the group. Each member is expected to complete their task and help the group as a whole. You will use images, combined with narrated slides and music, to create your video using Windows MovieMaker. Please follow the layout and instructions given to you on this page.
Your project should include at least one photo/image to cover each of the following topics:
1) Introduction to your person's journey
2) Motivations for moving
3) Map – Find one during your research or use one from the Maps Page
4) Opportunities and struggles
5) Applications to race (personal racism and/or impact on how the nation views this race "racial identity)
6) Contributions to new community
The resources you will need to complete the assignment are located under the Website and Maps links above. Use those links FIRST because they include reliable information and are valid (good) sources of information. If you don't find what you're looking for, please use www.sweetsearch.com. Write down the web address for each picture you use. You will put it into the video’s credits (see Storyboard).

* Must have title & student names at the beginning of video
* Must have 6 slides & narration from Storyboard
* Must have picture credits listed at the end of video
Your group will look at and discuss how to complete your video by looking at the Video Storyboard. If you'd like to complete it, Mrs. Anderson will be glad to look at it before you start.

Friday & Monday- Day #1
- Watch an example video from last year (on Home page).
- Go over introduction to project.
- Groups determine characters and mother country of immigrant or starting point for migrant.
- Decide which role each group member will have.
- Divide note-taking sheets between group members.
- Start research using approved websites on Notes Sheet
- Remember: Save all files to Google Drive & cite sources
Tuesday- Day #2
- Use hyperlinks in Symbaloo Webmix on websites page to research.
- Each person compiles notes for their section of the project.
Think: “How can I use this primary document to tell my character's story?
- Remember: Save all files to Google Drive & cite sources
Wednesday- Day #3
- Each person finishes notes for their section of the project.
- Find images and write narration for the section you are responsible for in the project.
- Learn about Windows MovieMaker
- Look over Storyboard as a group.
- Show Storyboard to Mrs. Anderson if you'd like
- Begin creating video
- Record narration by using microphone on computer or phone. Upload to your Google Drive.
Thursday- Day #4
- Finalize movie
- Add animations and intro/conclusion music clips from Soundzabound: username: greenville; password: getmusic
- Save to Mrs. Anderson's flash drive as a “Movie File”
Monday- Day #5
- Complete Group Project Reflection Sheet
- Present videos to class
- Watch an example video from last year (on Home page).
